Privacy Policy

Clipsmith · Effective 13 September 2026

Clipsmith processes your videos on your iPhone. There is no account, no server, and no backend. Your videos, audio, and subtitles are never uploaded — not to us, and not to anyone else.

What we collect

Nothing. We operate no server that receives data from the app, so there is nothing for us to collect, store, sell, or share. We cannot see your videos, what you export, or that you used the app at all.

Videos you choose

When you tap Import Video, iOS shows its own photo picker. The system hands Clipsmith only the video you select; the app is not given access to the rest of your photo library, and it does not ask for permission to read it.

The selected video is copied into the app's private storage so it can be trimmed, compressed, or converted. Your original in the Photos app is never modified.

What the app stores on your device

None of this leaves your device. It is not transmitted anywhere and is not synchronised between devices.

Permissions the app may ask for

Photos — Add Photos Only. Requested only when you tap Save to Photos, so an exported video can be added to your library. This permission lets the app add items; it does not let the app see or read your existing photos and videos.

Speech Recognition. Requested only when you tap Extract Subtitles. Recognition runs entirely on your device: the app requires Apple's on-device speech recognition and will not fall back to server-based recognition. If your device cannot recognise a language offline, the app tells you so instead of sending the audio anywhere.

You can decline either permission and still use every other feature. You can change your choice at any time in the Settings app.

What the app does not do

The app makes no network requests of its own. The only times it goes online are when you open this policy or the Terms of Use from inside the app (which opens your browser), and when you buy or restore a subscription (which is handled by Apple).

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether your subscription is currently active. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children

Clipsmith is a general-purpose video tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone — children included.

Your rights and deleting your data

Rights of access, correction, portability, and erasure apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete.

To delete what the app has stored: remove individual files under My Files, or delete the app, which removes everything it saved. There is no copy on our side, so it cannot be recovered — and it does not need to be requested from us. Videos you saved to Photos stay in Photos until you delete them there.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
