Common questions
Does one subscription cover all 13 banks?
Yes. A single subscription unlocks every bank in the app. There is no per-bank purchase.
The free allowance is shared too: 25 questions on your first day, then ten a day, counted
across all 13 banks rather than per bank.
Which banks are included?
Boiler & steam (5): Steam Engineer III, Boiler Operator, Boiler Licensing,
Controls & Trim, Plant Operation.
Refrigeration & HVAC (6): EPA 608, Refrigeration Cycle, Commercial Refrigeration,
HVACR Fundamentals, A/C Service, Heat Pumps.
Codes & building systems (2): Pressure Vessel Code, Building Systems.
Each bank keeps its own progress, so working one does not disturb the others.
Why are boilers and refrigeration in the same app?
Because they are the same job. A stationary engineer runs the whole central plant — the
fired side, the chilled side, the air handling and the piping that ties them together — and
the licence exams test all of it in one sitting.
Are these real exam questions?
No. They are practice questions written to the topics the licence examinations cover —
combustion and draft, feedwater and water treatment, safety valves and controls, the
refrigeration cycle, refrigerant handling, air systems and plant operation. No question is
taken from any actual examination.
Does it cover my city's or my state's licence?
Stationary engineer licensing in the United States is mostly municipal — the city or
county issues the licence and writes its own exam, and the grades are named differently from
one place to the next. The physics does not change: combustion, steam tables, the refrigeration
cycle and safety-device theory are the same in every jurisdiction, and that is what this app
drills. Eligibility, required operating hours, grade structure, local ordinances and fees are
not in the app. Confirm those with the licensing board where you will sit the exam.
Does it quote code section numbers?
The Pressure Vessel Code bank covers what Section I, Section VIII and the B31 piping
code require —
where a relief device goes, what sets MAWP, why hydrostatic test pressure is what it is. It
does not reproduce paragraph numbers or tables. Codes are revised on a cycle and adopted with
amendments; read the figures in the edition your jurisdiction has adopted.
What does a subscription open?
It removes the daily limit of ten questions and opens mock exams (timed and scored against
the pass mark) and read-through (answers and explanations laid open, page by page, unscored).
Practice in order, random draw and redo missed all work on the free tier, within the daily ten.
Where is my progress stored?
On your device only. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Deleting the app deletes
all of it.
I paid but the app still shows the free limit.
Open Subscribe and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same
Apple Account used for the purchase.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by this app. Open Settings in the app and tap
Subscription, then Cancel subscription — that opens Apple's own subscription panel. You can also
get there from the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at
the end of the current period and you keep access until then.
Does it work without a network?
Yes. The questions, explanations and fonts are all inside the app. Nothing is fetched while
you study.
I think an answer is wrong.
Please email the bank name, the question number and what you believe the correct answer is.
Corrections are taken seriously and shipped in the next update.
